1. Getting Started

Welcome to FlixPicks! Our mission is simple: More Watching. Less Choosing. We help you discover great movies and TV shows to watch, with powerful filtering, AI-powered recommendations, and streaming availability information.

What FlixPicks Offers

• Browse thousands of movies and TV shows with detailed information
• Filter by genre, year, rating, language, and more
• Search for specific titles quickly
• AI Recommendations - describe what you're in the mood for and get personalized suggestions
• Watchlist - save titles to watch later
• Streaming Info - see where each title is available to stream

2. Browsing Movies & TV Shows

Switching Between Movies and TV

Use the Movies and TV buttons at the top of the page to switch between movie and TV show content. The active selection is highlighted in orange.

Browse vs Recommendations

Below the logo, you'll find two main viewing modes:

The Content Grid

Movies and TV shows are displayed as cards in a grid. Each card shows:

• The poster image
• Title of the movie or show
• Release year
• Rating (out of 10)

Click any card to view full details about that title.

3. Using Filters

The filter bar helps you narrow down content to find exactly what you're looking for.

4. Search

The search bar in the header lets you quickly find specific movies or TV shows by title.

How to Search

1. Click the search input field in the header
2. Type the title you're looking for
3. Results appear as you type (fuzzy matching helps find titles even with typos)
4. Click a result to view its detail page

Search Tips

• Search works across both movies and TV shows based on your current selection
• Partial matches work - you don't need the exact title
• Press Enter or click the search icon to submit
• Click outside the search results to close the dropdown

5. AI-Powered Recommendations

FlixPicks features an AI assistant that understands natural language descriptions and recommends movies or TV shows based on what you're in the mood for.

How to Use AI Search

1. Click the blue "Ask AI" button above the search bar
2. A chat window opens where you can describe what you want to watch
3. Type a description like "funny comedy with a good plot twist" or "intense thriller set in space"
4. The AI will suggest 3 titles that match your description
5. Each suggestion includes why it was recommended and a hook to get you interested

6. Movie & TV Show Details

Click any title to view its full detail page with comprehensive information.

What You'll Find

• Poster & Backdrop - High-quality images
• Title & Tagline - The official title and marketing tagline
• Rating - Average user rating out of 10
• Release Date - When it was released (or first aired for TV)
• Runtime - How long the movie is (or episode count for TV)
• Genres - Categories the title belongs to
• Overview - A brief synopsis of the plot
• Plot (Spoilers) - Click to reveal a more detailed plot summary
• Cast - Main actors with photos and character names
• Director/Creator - Who made it
• Trailer - Watch the official trailer (when available)
• Streaming Availability - Where you can watch it

Actions

• Add to Watchlist - Save for later
• Watch Trailer - Opens the YouTube trailer
• Back - Return to the previous view

7. Managing Your Watchlist

Your watchlist helps you keep track of movies and TV shows you want to watch.

Adding to Watchlist

• On any detail page, click the "Add to Watchlist" button
• The button changes to show the item is saved

Viewing Your Watchlist

• Click the Watchlist button in the header
• Your saved movies and TV shows are displayed
• Click any item to view its details

Removing from Watchlist

• Go to the detail page of a saved item
• Click the watchlist button again to remove it

8. User Accounts

Creating an account unlocks additional features and syncs your data across devices.

• Sync your watchlist across all your devices
• Save your preferences and filter settings
• Connect with Trakt for advanced tracking
• Access your data from anywhere

Creating an Account

1. Click the user icon in the top-right corner
2. Select "Sign In"
3. Choose to sign up with email or use Google/Apple sign-in
4. Follow the prompts to complete registration

3. Enter your credentials or use social login

9. Trakt Integration

FlixPicks integrates with Trakt.tv, a popular service for tracking what you watch.

What is Trakt?

Trakt is a platform that automatically tracks TV shows and movies you watch. It keeps a history of everything you've seen, helps you discover new content, and syncs across many apps and devices.

Connecting Trakt

1. Sign in to your FlixPicks account
2. Click the user icon and select "Connect Trakt"
3. You'll be redirected to Trakt to authorize the connection
4. Once connected, your watch history syncs automatically

• Import your existing watch history
• Track what you've watched directly from FlixPicks
• Sync with other apps that support Trakt
